Not sure which Mac you have? Apple menu → About This Mac. "Chip: Apple M…" means Apple chip; "Processor: Intel" means Intel.
Sign in once it's open
Open Settings → Account and sign in with your email. We'll email you a code to type in. You start on the free plan, no card needed, and you can upgrade from inside the app any time. If you were invited to test DownNote, use that email and your plan switches on by itself.
After you download
- Open the downloaded zip. A DownNote app appears.
- Drag DownNote into your Applications folder, then open it.
- Your Mac will say it can't check DownNote for malware. DownNote is new and not yet signed by Apple. Click Done.
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down to Security, and click Open Anyway next to DownNote. You only do this once.
- Show or hide DownNote anytime with ⌘ Shift Space.
- Right-click the downloaded zip and choose Extract All. Put the DownNote folder somewhere you'll keep it, like Documents.
- Open the DownNote folder and double-click DownNote.exe.
- If Windows shows "Windows protected your PC", click More info, then Run anyway. DownNote is new and not yet signed. You only do this once.
- Right-click DownNote in the taskbar and choose Pin to taskbar.
- Show or hide DownNote anytime with Ctrl Shift Space.
